As one of the Columbia Gorge's oldest and most beloved museums, a major renovation of its electrical system was completed during the museums winter closing months.

A new electrical service, power distribution, receptacles and wiring were installed bringing the system up to current day codes. Also provided were new combination telephone and data outlets. New recessed lighting was installed on most exhibits. Basement staff offices were renovated as well as different parts of selected exhibit rooms. In addition, tall, antique-style lamps lighting the museum rotundas were installed. These lamps were part of the original plans and dreams of the museum builder, Sam Hill. Overall, Schommer & Sons contributed over $100,000 in 'In-Kind' donations to this renovation project.
