Hood River Spring Development
Hood River, Oregon
This project consisted of rehabilitation of the 15,000 gallon-per-minute spring source primary municipal water supply for the City of Hood River, located at the base of Mount Hood. The system, constructed in 1927, includes a 12-mile transmission line to the City of Hood River.

The project scope included design and reconstruction of spring sources; installation of transmission line control facilities, telemetry, metering facilities and conversion of disinfecting facilities to flow paced chlorination. The project also required extensive analysis of existing construction, geological exploration and hydraulic modeling. This is a remote, restricted access, and difficult site in a very sensitive area. System remained on-line for the duration of two phases of construction. (Weather window closes each year by December 1st.)

Changes are attributable to errata in original data (1927 documents) on which original scope of work was predicated. Redesign of facilities resulted in extensive expansion of control structures and equipment and increased transmission line sizing.
