Pilot House Renovation and Addition
The Pilot House Addition consisted of renovation and expansion of the 1950 building using concrete, masonry and wood frame expansions. The 16,000 square foot structure was wrapped in a new brick veneer. A partially covered outdoor court of metal and glass created a new entrance. Due to permitting delays, this job needed to be completed in 90 days to be eligible for special funding. The job included a kitchen facility for Saga Food Services and a bookstore for Barnes & Noble with over 100 built-in fixtures. All work was complete by Schommer work crews and the building was turned over in 89 days.

West Hall Renovation
This project consisted of the total demolition and reconstruction of the fifth floor of the West Hall on the University campus. The 100 year old West Hall is the oldest building on Campus. This floor was previously used for storage. The completed space houses the offices of the Public Relations and Publications Departments. During the renovation, the lower floors of the hall remained occupied. In addition to the challenges of the renovation proper, Schommer and Sons successfully kept the occupants of the building provided with all building services on an uninterrupted basis.
