Schommer and Sons is currently replacing the existing 115,000 square foot Oregon Catholic Press roof and providing seismic upgrades to the roof diaphragm. The work requires disconnecting and removing all HVAC units from the roof by crane. Three skylights will be removed and replaced and one skylight will be removed and reinstalled. All remaining skylights will be removed and openings filled in.
Due to the relatively low structural ratings for the roof, special considerations must be made for transporting materials and debris. Safety is of great concern due to the relative weakness of the roof, possible deck rot, number of fall hazards and potential for debris falling inside the building. An OSHA rated safety netting system with integrated debris liner is currently being installed as part of the preconstruction phase. The net system will allow OCP to continue their operations with minimal interruption from the construction activities and allow seismic and roofing work to proceed more efficiently. Netting will also provide fall protection and prevent debris from damaging equipment and minimize interior clean up and dust protection.
This was an old Clackamas Co. Office and will now hold branch on the 1st floor and Administration on the 2nd. The work involves major renovations to the building, including new room layout, ceiling, carpet, tile, paint, and emergency back up generator. The old facade came down and new exterior framing and cedar siding is being installed.
